Memorial Day 2014
May 26, 2014 | ~40 miles
Our ride began as usual with the first stop for some breakfast at the bagel shop, and then riding to the ferry to get us into lower Manhattan. From there, we rode across town to the Williamsburg bridge and into Brooklyn. We explored Williamsburg before heading to Queens, where we explored some parks and then took the bridge into Roosevelt Island.
On Roosevelt Island, we visited the newly opened FDR Four Freedoms Park.
Later we rode around the island, back to Queens, took the Queensboro bridge into Manhattan and to Central Park. There’s always a moment when we need to decide how we’d like to get back to Jersey City. Should we go back to the ferry downtown, the one in midtown, or just take the GWB into Jersey? Since we were already uptown, on the downhill of the Central Park loop with little desire to ride the uphill of said loop, we decided to take the GWB to Jersey.
It was a full day of riding and we weren’t as tired as we expected. Yah!
